Top 100 NFL Players of 2019 (60-51)

60) Keenan Allen, WR, Los Angeles Chargers

2019 stats: 16 games, 104 receptions, 1,199 receiving yards, 6 receiving touchdowns, 11.5 yards-per-catch

Keenan Allen paired with Austin Ekeler as the Chargers’ only reliable chain movers. Despite Philip Rivers’ regression behind Los Angeles’ struggling offensive line, Allen remained available for his offense, accounting for 64 of their first downs. Ever the reliable ball carrier, the seventh year receiver also held onto the football for all 107 touches that Allen received in the 2019 season.

59) Mike Evans, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

2019 stats: 13 games, 67 receptions, 1,157 receiving yards, 8 receiving touchdowns, 17.3 yards-per-catch

Lost in the hype of Chris Godwin’s breakout year and Jameis Winston’s 30-touchdown, 30-interception season was Mike Evans continuing his fantastic play on the outside. The former Texas A&M Aggie was on pace for his second straight 1,400-yard year accounting for the three games missed due to injury. Even with his brief absence, Evans continued to prove that he is one of the league’s premier deep threats, completing his second straight season with over 17 yards-per-reception.

58) Arik Armstead, DL, San Francisco 49ers

2019 stats: 16 games, 54 tackles, 10 sacks, 11 tackles for loss, 2 pass deflections, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery

After putting up a total of nine sacks through his first four seasons with the 49ers, Arik Armstead more than doubled that total with his breakout, ten-sack season. The Oregon product matched the play of longtime teammate DeForest Buckner in the trenches. Seemingly always finding a way into the backfield, Armstead also logged career highs in total tackles, tackles for a loss, pass deflections, forced fumbles, and quarterback hits.

57) Darius Slay, CB, Detroit Lions

2019 stats: 14 games, 46 tackles, 2 interceptions, 13 pass deflections, 1 fumble recovery

With a 55.9% completion percentage and an 81.6 passer rating against, Darius Slay quietly continued his fantastic play on the outside during what turned out to be his final year with the Lions. The now-Eagle’s numbers in both categories did dip from his 2018 stats, but the corner made up for it with reducing his touchdowns allowed by half (six to 3).

56) DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Houston Texans

2019 stats: 15 games, 104 receptions, 1,165, 7 receiving touchdowns, 11.2 yards-per-catch

DeAndre Hopkins’ role changed in the offense during his final year with the Texans. The Clemson product did more of his damage through the slot as opposed to the previous year and continued his impressive 70% catch rate. Hopkins got some help on the outside with Kenny Stills, but evidently remained Deshaun Watson’s favorite target before being shipped off to the Cardinals.

55) Ezekiel Elliot, RB, Dallas Cowboys

2019 stats: 16 games, 301 rushes, 1,357 rushing yards, 12 rushing touchdowns, 4.5 yards-per-carry, 54 receptions, 420 receiving yards 2 receiving touchdowns

Zeke Elliot’s first 16-game season of his career remained relatively quiet due to the ongoing contract dispute with Dak Prescott and the now-settled contract dispute with Amari Cooper, the Ohio State product kept up with the new wave of bell-cow running backs. The Cowboys’ offense wouldn’t be able to tick without Elliot’s 355 touches out of the backfield and nearly 1,800 yards from scrimmage.

54) Aaron Rodgers, QB, Green Bay Packers

2019 stats: 16 games, 4,002 passing yards, 26 passing touchdowns, 4 interceptions, 62.0% completion percentage, 7.0 yards per attempt, 95.4 passer rating

In his 12th year as the Packers’ starter, Aaron Rodgers looked rejuvenated with the help of Matt LaFleur’s offensive scheme. The future Hall of Famer learned the playbook nearly seamlessly through the course of one offseason and kept his team afloat despite a lack of weapons in the passing game, even when Davante Adams missed about a month’s time. With a little less on his plate with the help of the running game, Rodgers delivered as the clutch playmaker for Green Bay up until the Packers’ tough loss in the NFC Championship Game.

53) Lavonte David, ILB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

2019 stats: 16 games, 123 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 7 pass deflections, 1 interception, forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery

Lavonte David was blessed with some help in the front seven with the additions of Ndamukong Suh, Devin White, and Shaq Barrett, but David remained the captain of Todd Bowles’ improved defensive unit. With a knack for plugging the right gap and finding his way to the ballcarrier, the longtime Buc improved in his pass coverage as well as opposed to 2018. David reduced his touchdowns allowed from four to zero and held quarterbacks to a 73.0 passer rating on passes towards him (down 41.8 from last year).

52) Shaquil Barrett, OLB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

2019 stats: 16 games, 58 tackles, 19.5 sacks, 19 tackles for loss, 2 pass deflections, 1 interception, 6 forced fumbles

Another pass rusher in this installment that more than doubled his career sack total throughout 2019, Shaq Barrett emerged as a legitimate star off of the edge for Tampa Bay in his first year with his new team. Similarly to how Lavonte David was blessed with the likes of Barrett, Suh, and White, Barrett likely wouldn’t have led the league in sacks without the presence of his standout teammates. However, while Barrett’s 19.5 sacks and 37 quarterback hits might not be sustainable, the former Bronco found a home amongst fellow Pro Bowlers.

51) Deshaun Watson, QB, Houston Texans

2019 stats: 15 games, 3,852 passing yards, 26 passing touchdowns, 12 interceptions, 67.3% completion percentage, 7.8 yards per attempt, 98.0 passer rating, 82 carries, 413 rushing yards, 7 rushing touchdowns

The third-year quarterback was able to progress with his reads more and rely a little less on star wideout DeAndre Hopkins throughout 2019. Watson showed much more comfort as the unquestioned shot caller of the Texans. Whether the decision became to let it rip deep or tuck it down and run, the former Clemson quarterback was responsible for leading Houston to 6 wins via the offense’s final drive, including his Wild Card comeback win against the Bills.
